What you should know
Current prices (valid until Sep 30, 2026): 7 days ¥50,000, 14 days ¥80,000, 21 days ¥100,000 (Ordinary class, adult). From October 1, 2026, agencies raise to ¥53,000 / ¥84,000 / ¥105,000, but JR's official website keeps current prices.
JR Pass doesn't cover Nozomi or Mizuho. You'll take Hikari or Kodama (only 5-10 minutes slower on most routes). To ride Nozomi you pay a ~¥4,960 surcharge per trip.
Foreign tourists with temporary visa only. Japan residents cannot buy it.
Beyond pure savings: even at break-even, the pass saves time at ticket counters, allows free seat reservations, and gives flexibility to change plans.
