Takuhaibin luggage forwarding cost
Takuhaibin (宅配便) lets you send luggage directly between hotels, from airports to hotels, or between cities—often cheaper and more convenient than dragging suitcases on the Shinkansen. Enter your route and bag size for an estimate based on Yamato Transport (ヤマト運輸) rates.
How to use takuhaibin
Drop off at any convenience store (FamilyMart, Lawson, Seven-Eleven) or ask your hotel to arrange a collection. Delivery typically takes 1–2 days. Most hotels store arriving luggage free of charge until check-in. For airport delivery, look for the Yamato counters at arrival halls — they handle both airport-to-hotel and hotel-to-airport forwarding.
Practical tips
- Book at least the day before, especially during Golden Week or Obon.
- Keep one day's essentials in a day bag — your suitcase won't arrive immediately.
- Time-slot delivery (午前 morning / 午後 afternoon / 夕方 evening) is free to request.
- The limit is 160サイズ total (H + W + D ≤ 160 cm) and 25 kg per piece.
