Doesn't include international flights, intercity bullet trains (see the JR Pass calculator), travel insurance, shopping, and tips (Japan doesn't tip — that one saves you money).
Styles:
- Backpacker: hostel/capsule, konbini and cheap eats, public transit, free or cheap temples and parks.
- Mid-range: business hotel or modest ryokan, mix of izakaya and restaurants, occasional taxi, museums and cultural experiences.
- Luxury: 4-5★ hotel or traditional ryokan, kaiseki and Michelin restaurants, taxi and private guide, premium experiences.
